We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of arthritis, sports injuries, tendon and ligament injuries, spine conditions, and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Orthobiologics are treatments derived from your own body, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow concentrate (BMC), that are designed to support the body's natural healing processes.

Detroit Biologics is a concierge orthopedic and sports medicine practice led by Dr. Melanie Worley, a fellowship-trained interventional orthobiologics specialist. We emphasize personalized care, advanced diagnostics, precision image guidance, and evidence-based treatment plans designed to help patients stay active and avoid surgery whenever possible.

Treatment recommendations depend on your diagnosis, symptoms, goals, imaging findings, and overall health. A comprehensive evaluation is the best way to determine whether you may be a candidate.

Not all platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments are the same. The effectiveness of PRP depends on multiple factors, including the patient's diagnosis, the volume of blood collected, platelet concentration, processing technique, and accurate placement of the treatment.
At Detroit Biologics, treatment protocols are customized to each patient and condition rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Our goal is to optimize platelet concentration and treatment volume while utilizing ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance to precisely deliver PRP to the targeted tissue.
As a fellowship-trained physician in Interventional Orthobiologics, Dr. Worley follows evidence-based protocols to help maximize the potential benefits of PRP therapy.

Detroit Biologics operates as a concierge, direct-pay practice. This model allows for longer appointments, personalized treatment plans, direct physician access, and treatment recommendations based on what is best for the patient rather than insurance restrictions.
While we do not bill insurance directly, patients may be able to utilize HSA/FSA funds for eligible services. Financing options through Cherry may also be available to help make treatment more accessible.
-
Yes. Procedures are performed using ultrasound and/or fluoroscopic guidance when appropriate to improve accuracy and treatment precision. Diagnostic ultrasound is also incorporated into evaluations when clinically indicated.

Insurance coverage and scientific evidence are not the same thing. Insurance companies determine what they will reimburse based on their own coverage policies, cost considerations, and evidence thresholds, which may differ between insurers and can take time to reflect emerging research.
At Detroit Biologics, treatment recommendations are based on the best available scientific evidence, your specific diagnosis, your goals, and a thorough discussion of the potential risks, benefits, and alternatives—not solely on whether a treatment is covered by insurance.
Every patient is unique, and not every regenerative treatment is appropriate for every condition. Dr. Worley is committed to providing honest, evidence-informed recommendations and will only suggest treatments that are appropriate for your individual situation.
-
While no treatment can guarantee avoidance of surgery, orthobiologic treatments may help some patients improve pain, function, and quality of life. Treatment recommendations depend on the diagnosis, severity of the condition, patient goals, and overall health.
-
The first step is scheduling a comprehensive consultation. During your visit, Dr. Worley will review your medical history, goals, prior treatments, and any available imaging.
Patients are encouraged to bring prior MRI, X-ray, or ultrasound studies when available. If additional imaging is needed, Dr. Worley can coordinate appropriate imaging as part of the evaluation process. This streamlined approach allows for both a comprehensive assessment and detailed imaging review, helping patients receive a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan without unnecessary delays.
